Joan has lived with her husband, Alex in Nether Heyford since 1965. She has two grown up sons and three grandchildren. She took early retirement from the Department of Health in 1996.
Joan’s personal interests include the theatre, opera and entertaining friends and family.
Joan has always been interested in politics but was unable to pursue her interest in local government as a civil servant.
Joan has previously served as a District Councillor on South Northamptonshire and as a Parish Councillor in Nether Heyford and attends many of the Parish Council meetings as a County Councillor. She is also a Governor of a primary and secondary school in her division.
When she took early retirement, she was delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for the Bugbrooke division and has served as the County Councillor since 1997 to date.
Joan was appointed to the Cabinet in May 2005 and is currently Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Business Intelligence, Performance and Democracy.
