Rupert Reichold was first elected to Northamptonshire County council in 2001. He has served as an East Northamptonshire District Council since 1999. In 2001 - 2005 County council Rupert's assignments included Fostering Panel, Personnel Committee and Assistant Cabinet Member, Transport.

Rupert was a Civil Servant for 40 years, retiring in 1997. He worked mainly at the Department of Transport where he held a range of management and policy posts which included advice to Ministers of both parties.

Rupert is married, has two daughters and lives in Oundle.

His hobbies are music, political history and country walking.
