Ron Sawbridge was first elected as County Councillor for Brackley West in 2001 after serving as Chairman of Aynho Parish Councillor for many years. He is currently Chairman of the County Council, Chairman of the Corporate Parenting Board, Chairman of the Adoption Support Forum, Vice-Chairman of Governors at Magdalen College School, and Vice-Chairman of the Friends of Magdalen College School.
He was educated at Stretford Grammar School, Manchester, and at the age of eighteen joined the RAF and became a navigator. His main career was however as a director of a large logistics company. He took early retirement in 1989 and has lived in the south of the county for 20 years but has Northamptonshire ancestral connections back to about 1700.
His main personal interests include tennis, family history, philately, photography, and travel. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Brackley. Ron and his wife have a large family including an adopted son and daughter and they are local authority long-term foster parents..
Ron has a keen interest in the education and welfare of all children and young people and particularly those in the care of the County Council. p>
