Councillor Chris Long

Chris was born in Watford, Hertfordshire and moved to Daventry in 1973. A time served, qualified engineer, he was recruited to head up and commercially develop a company engaged in import and distribution, becoming both Commercial Director and Company Secretary. With a business partner, he bought the company through a management buy-out in 1993 and spent the next thirteen years developing a successful group of companies, gaining significant experience in management, finance and both company and commercial law. Chris was elected to Daventry District Council in 2006 and became Access and Improvement Portfolio Holder the following year. He was promoted to Chair the Scrutiny and Improvement Committee in 2008 and has remained in that position to date. Chris is also a board member of Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd and a Shadow Governor of Northampton General Hospital.
