Customers, Communities & Education Scrutiny Committee
The Customers, Communities & Education Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing matters relating to community development; the voluntary & community sector; County Council customer services; culture, heritage and sport; libraries and learning; and education and schools.
Environment, Development & Transport Scrutiny Committee
The Environment, Development & Transport Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing matters relating to highways and transport; growth, development and infrastructure; the environment; waste; flood risk management; and protective functions including Fire & Rescue, Trading Standards and Emergency Planning.

Finance & Performance Scrutiny Committee
The Finance & Performance Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing budget development and delivery; corporate planning and performance; and LGSS and corporate support services.
Health & Social Care Scrutiny Committee
The Health & Social Care Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing adults' and children's social care; and NHS services delivered to the county.
Healthier Together Joint Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee
The Joint Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee has been formed by Northamptonshire County Council, Milton Keynes Council, Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Luton Borough Council. It is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing proposals for future NHS acute services delivered in hospitals and in the community to be developed through the Healthier Together Programme.
Northamptonshire Police and Crime Panel
The Police Reform & Social Responsibility Act 2011 introduced new structural arrangements for policing, including the replacement of police authorities with directly-elected Police & Crime Commissioners (PCC) for each police area.
The Act also required the Council to establish a Police & Crime Panel (PCP) to scrutinise the Northamptonshire PCC in order to promote openness in the transaction of police business.
The Northamptonshire PCP has the following functions:
Reviewing and responding to the PCCs Draft Police & Crime Plan, Proposed Precept and Annual Report;
Reviewing and responding to proposed senior appointments;
Reviewing the proposed removal by the PCC of the Chief Constable;
Power to suspend the PCC if charged with a serious criminal offence; and
Scrutinising decisions and actions taken by the PCC in discharging their functions.
Scrutiny Management Committee
The Scrutiny Management Committee is responsible for managing and co-ordinating the Overview & Scrutiny Function at Northamptonshire County Council to ensure that it operates effectively and achieves its objectives.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee
The Children & Young People Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing services and issues relating to children and young people’s educational and social care and health needs in Northamptonshire.

The Customers & Communities Scrutiny Committee has the overview & scrutiny responsibilities for Customer Services, Culture, Community Safety, Highways and Transport, Waste, Procurement, Economic Development Regeneration and regional relationships, Commercial, Community renewal, Community Cohesion, Third Sector and Grownth.
Fire & Rescue Scrutiny Sub Committee
The aim of the sub committee is to carry out pre decision scrutiny of policy development and delivery issues and in-depth investigations of issues where scrutiny can contribute to service improvement.
Health & Adult Social Services Scrutiny Committee
The Health & Adult Social Service Scrutiny Committee has the overview and scrutiny function responsibilities for scrutiny of health under the Health and Social Care Act 2001, in conjunction with district and borough councils, Adult social care and Adult and community learning.
Scrutiny Management Committee
The Scrutiny Management Committee is responsible for managing and co-ordinating the Overview & Scrutiny Function to ensure that it achieves its objectives. The Committee is also responsible for scrutinising strategic and cross-cutting issues in the county and County Council organisational functions.
