Adult Social Care & Health Scrutiny Committee
The Adult Care & Health Scrutiny Committee has the overview and scrutiny function responsibilities for scrutiny of health under the Health and Social Care Act 2001, in conjunction with district and borough councils, Adult social care and Adult and community learning.

Audit Committee
The role of the Audit Committee is concerned with increasing public confidence in the objectivity and fairness of financial reporting and assurance. Audit committees are deemed to be essential to good governance.</p>

Cabinet
The Cabinet is the body that takes most of the decisions relating to the running of services provided by Northamptonshire County Council, within the policies (for example the Council budget) that have been agreed by Full Council.</p>

Community Funding Advisory Panel and Community Funding Cabinet Commitee
The Community Funding Cabinet Committee and the Community Funding Advisory Panel is responsible for determining applications for funding and allocate funding to voluntary and community sector organisations from the County Council’s capital and revenue investment fund. They also take a strategic overview of the Council’s commissioning arrangements with the voluntary sector to ensure the Council operates in a supportive and consistent partnership with the county’s voluntary sector. In addition to ensuring that the County Council’s budget and resources supports its strategic goals and priorities CFCC also monitors the outcome of investment in the thematic partnerships.</p>

Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee
The Children & Young People Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing services and issues relating to children and young people’s educational and social care and health needs in Northamptonshire. </p>

Council
The most important decisions can only be made by the full council (all 73 councillors meeting together) which meets six times a year, in public, at County Hall, Northampton. This includes setting the council's budget and council tax level each year and agreeing the important policies that make up key plans that all councils have to have each year. Meetings are chaired by the chairman of the county council, who also has the important role of representing the council at a wide range of events and meetings throughout the year.</p>

Customers & Communities Scrutiny Committee
The Customers & Communities Scrutiny Committee has the overview & scrutiny responsibilities for Customer Services, Culture, Community Safety, Highways and Transport, Waste, Procurement, Economic Development Regeneration and regional relationships, Commercial, Community renewal, Community Cohesion, Third Sector and Grownth.<p>

Development Control Committee
The County Council makes decisions on certain types of planning proposals only. These are for minerals related development (e.g. quarries), waste related development (e.g. recycling facilities) and development for and by the County Council (e.g. libraries, county council schools, new roads).</p>

Enterprise Scrutiny Committee
The Enterprise Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing issues and services relating to performance management for all relevant LAA indicators and Strategic and Support Services, Sustainable Transport, Economic Development and Revenue and Capital Monitoring.</p>

Healthier Communities Scrutiny Commitee
The Healthier Communities Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing issues and services relating to health care, adult social care and adult and community learning.</p>

North Northamptonshire Joint Planning Committee
The Joint Planning Committee was established in July 2005 as the formal decision making body for the North Northamptoshire Joint Planning Unit. The Joint Planning Committee is the first such committee established under new planning legislation and is made up of 3 elected members from each planning authority (Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Northamptonshire). It is responsible for agreeing the Joint Core Spatial Strategy and joint other planning policy work, but has no development control powers, which remain with the individual district/borough councils.</p>

Northamptonshire Public Service Board
The Public Service Board for Northamptonshire brings together the major public service partners in the county to facilitate more effective service delivery for the residents of the county.</p>

Pensions Committee
The Pensions Committee is responsible for ensuring the pension fund managed by the Council complies with all relevant legislation governing the administration of the fund, ensuring appropriate arrangements for the administration of benefits in place and reviewing investment strategies for the fund.</p>

Personnel Committee
The Personnel Committee is responsible for staff issues providing a strategic overview of people management issues within the Council. It is responsible for Chief Officer discipline and redundancy appeals as well as the appointment of the Head of Paid Service and Chief Officers.</p>

Standards Committee
The Standards Committee's role is to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members and church and parent governor representatives.</p>

Stronger Communities Scrutiny Committee
The Stronger Communities Scrutiny Committee is responsible for scrutinising and reviewing services and issues relating to local communities and the environment in Northamptonshire.</p>

IRMP Sub Committee
The Sub Committee fulfills the Stronger Communities Scrutiny Committee's function of being consulted on policy development and review of issues relating to the Fire & Rescue Service in relation to the County Integrated Risk Management Plan ('Community Fire Safety Improvement Plan').</p>
