Councillor Michael Tye

Michael became actively involved in politics in 1997 when he was elected to Northamptonshire County Council and represented the residents of Rushden for over 20 years. During that time he has served on a number of committees including Scrutiny, Children's services ,Standards, Pensions, Audit, and Planning. He has been the Chief Whip for the Conservative group of councillors. He was also a member of Northamptonshire Police Authority for a number of years.

Michael is a member of the Wellingborough Conservative Association and its Executive Committee. His priority is to represent the interest of the Rushden residents to improve the quality life and services provided by the County Council and to make Rushden an attractive place to live and work.

Michael was educated at Wellingborough Grammar School and worked for 40 years in Marketing and sales with a global telecommunications company. He is retired and has two adult children.

He enjoys classical music particularly opera and has performed in a number of local musicals. He has been a Rotarian for over 30 years and sings in a local choir.
